Guam - Employees with the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse are getting specialized health professional training for the very first time on Guam. Mental Health chief psychologist Dr. Patricia Taimanglo says the training includes presentations from national speakers about different techniques and approaches when servicing clients.
"It's important that out of my research studies that were done in 1988 - one of the strongest recommendations is teaching the history and how it affects people, the second thing is a need for family therapy and part of the training for people who provide services as well as substance abuse training," said Taimanglo.
The federal management team sponsors the training in an effort to enhance skills, training and development of those who provide direct services.
