Guam - The first concrete pouring of the foundation of the Guam Regional Medical City was celebrated today as progress on the new private hospital is well underway. Formwork and rebar have been installed and approvals were obtained from regulatory agencies to allow for the start of the structural phase.

Contractor DCK Pacific's program director Tony Law said, "So there comes the milestone; we placed our first concrete and going forward there's going to be more concrete trucks coming to the sight, a lot more activities and the other milestone is that we're on schedule, which is big for the hospital."

Flat concrete will be poured over the next week as well as the outlay of the elevator shaft before the walls will be set. The contractor admits that the upcoming rainy season could pose a challenge but the project is set for completion in the third quarter of 2014.
