Guam - Attorneys for the hospital may have thought they could go to the courts to quash a legislative subpoena, but their motion was dismissed today by Senior Pro Team Judge Elizabeth Barrett Anderson. The judge found that the court cannot quash a subpoena that it didn't issue and that such matters are within the purview of the Guam Legislature.

The hospital issued a memo to physicians on Thursday warning them that personal information may re released if the subpoena is complied with. Healthcare Committee chairman Senator Dennis Rodriguez, Jr. issued the subpoena for various documents relating to physicians whose privileges had been suspended or revoked but were seeking reinstatement to GMH. Hospital legal counsel Tom Fisher says he is reviewing the order.

The hospital has been ordered to turn over all the documents at Monday night's oversight hearing.
