Guam - For the first time in a year, the Veterans Affairs Commission met today to discuss issues from a scathing audit regarding finances and operations to battling veterans' homelessness.  Commission chair Bill Cundiff says there was a consensus to address the audit and adopt a procedure and performance standards self-inspection checklist to get the finances in line.

He told KUAM News, "And that is what this is all about - for the veterans to help themselves and then we'll go from there, and I'm very happy and I hope the word gets out that the Commission is for them and it's not for anything else but the veterans."

Cuniff says the Commission intends to ask for another audit in six months. Another meeting is set for next month.
