Guam - Guam Delegate Madeleine Bordallo says now that the updated U.S-Japan realignment plan is in place she will work closely with the Navy as well as the governor and the Legislature to ensure they can develop a plan to address the revised laydown on Guam in the most expeditious manner.

The total cost of the Guam realignment, Bordallo says, has been reduced significantly and that should help alleviate concerns over cost in these tights budgetary times. She adds eliminating the Japanese special purpose entity financing will require close coordination between the U.S. and Government of Japan to ensure that certain infrastructure needs are able to be addressed by the new funding structure.  She also looks forward to DOD meeting the requirements in the current NDAA so that funding can be released. Bordallo says "it is time to get on with the military build-up and this agreement will help us to move the ball forward."
