Guam - Despite a shortage of manpower, the Guam Fire Department is forging ahead with building inspections. Fire Chief Joey San Nicolas says the department is trying to do more with less. Apparently it's working because he says last week they were able to do twenty building license inspections and four business occupancy inspections, in addition to two assembly permits and two auto fire investigations.
"We're in the in house training phase right now of utilizing our fire captains at the various fire stations around the island and to also be an extension of our prevention bureau to do inspections within their respective jurisdictions, which will definitely help us to outreach to get more businesses squared away as far as safety is concerned," he told KUAM News.
