Rapadas attends anti-human trafficking summit

Guam - Attorney General of Guam Leonardo Rapadas joined in on the Anti-Human trafficking summit this week in Seattle, Washington. The National Association of Attorneys General hosts the event. Rapadas was delegated the honor of moderating a panel on the best practices of prosecuting traffickers. He states, "The successful 'triage' of

trafficking cases requires coordination between federal, state, and local law enforcement and prosecutors, an understanding of the charging tools available, and training in successful trial advocacy strategies."

AG Rapadas also spoke to the Senior advisor to the Secretary of State and Director of the office to monitor and combat trafficking in persons Ambassador Luis DeBaca.

Human trafficking involves several forms of slavery that include coercing or forcing victims into prostitution, subjecting victims to slavery or forms of indentured servitude, compelling victims to commit sex acts for the purpose of creating pornography, and misleading victims into debt bondage.
