GPA seeks base rate increase

Guam - Your power bill is likely to go up again, but the Public Utilities Commission is seeking comments on the proposed base rate increase before they decide. Three meetings will be held next week on GPA's proposed rate hike, which would equate to a 7.5 percent increase in your power bill spread out over the next five years. For a typical residential customer using 1,000 kilowatts with an average $270 a month power bill, you can expect to see your bill increase by $20 after five years.
Hearings will be held next Tuesday at the GCIC Building, Wednesday at the Agat Senior Center and Thursday at the Dededo Senior Citizen Center. All the meetings will be held at six o'clock. The PUC is expected to make a decision in April with the approved rate to take effect in May.
