Guam - Hollywood filmmaker James Cameron's Mermaid Sapphire and his green submersible, Deepsea Challenger, are in our area. Cameron is preparing to dive Challenger Deep in the Marianas Trench, which is the deepest point on earth.

Today a new picture was posted on the Deepsea Challenge website as well as the captain's logs of the expedition. Captain Stuart Buckle writes that the team is subject to the whims of the weather in the open ocean, rough, stormy seas can make it impossible to get the sub in the water let alone pull off a dive.

According to the latest marine report dated March 21, the team was standing by at challenger deep waiting for daylight to assess weather conditions. You can read and follow the expedition by going to DeepSeaChallenge.com. Cameron has teamed up with National Geographic and Rolex to conduct the expedition.
