Guam - Although the Guam Hotel and Restaurant Association would like to see the China visa waiver go through, for now the recent approval of Russian tourists has been bringing in business. GHRA president Mary Torre told KUAM News, "But because now we have the visa waiver for that parole program, we've actually sent those numbers increase by a 1,000 percent this last month. I know it sounds like a lot, but it's a couple hundred that are coming to Guam and that's a huge growth for only having the parole program in place for about a month now."
According to Hotel Nikko Guam assistant general manager Joe Blas, business has increased at the hotel, saying, "One good issue about the Russian visitors is they stay longer, which is a little more food and beverage business, and I know what's good for Guam and what's good for Guam is good for any hotelier. So we're wishing there will be more and hopefully we can double or triple it soon."
According to GHRA Russian visitors have different buying and guest expectation and stay longer than other tourists from markets like Japan and Korea. Russian tourists tend to stay about two to four weeks.
