Guam - With growing responsibilities and mandates, island mayors are asking for more money in the Fiscal Year 2013 budget. Mayors Council of Guam executive director Angel Sablan says the extra money would go to those villages with more than ten thousand residents to assist with maintenance.  The Mayors Council is requesting an additional a half-million dollars, with Sablan saying, "We're looking at adding at least five or six more positions for maintenance, we are looking to ask for an accounting firm contractual services to handle these different grants and projects we are now accepting, including Liberation."

Sablan adds that island mayors have been doing more with the limited resources they have but the Mayors Council will urge lawmakers to approve the increase to help them meet the needs of their constituents.
