Guam - Guam Education Board member and Education Task Force Repairs, Renovations and New Schools Committee chairman Joe San Agustin wants to put rumors to rest: LBJ Elementary School in Tamuning is NOT on the table for possible closure whether it be for cost savings for the Department of Education or for a potential charter school.

He said, "The right thing to do is look at what the numbers are, what the cost factors and then decide from there and not just say we're going to close LBJ, because the first time I went to a budget work session with board, LBJ was not even an issue. They were talking about Chief Brodie and merging them with Tamuning Elementary and LBJ."

San Agustin called a meeting at Tamuning Elementary School today to calm confused LBJ staff. According to San Agustin, GEB chairman Francis Santos' statements on LBJ's student population was misinformed because Tamuning Elementary cannot support an influx of 300 more students, whether they came from LBJ or Chief Brodie Elementary School.
