22 companies make 'Buy Local' commitment
by Nick Delgado
Guam - "Buy Local' is the campaign that hopes to re-circulate more revenue throughout Guam as well as generate money for the island. With the pledge to think, support and buy local, the Guam Chamber of Commerce, UOG's Pacific Center for Economic Initiatives and GEDA partnered to launch this effort. 22 companies and government agencies also made the pledge today to promote the Buy Local movement.
Committee chairman Jay Rojas said, "The benefit is the more we shift the dollars to the local vendors the more the dollars are able to re-circulate throughout the entire island, its common sense and we understand that, but to be able to have companies to commit to doing this is a big deal for us."
KUAM is also taking part in the movement (see below). If your company is interested in signing the Buy Local Commitment or for more information you can call the Chamber office at 472-6311.
As Guam's First Local Commercial Broadcast Station Group, Localism has been and remains at the heart of our operation at KUAM. We are pleased to commit to the Think, Support and Buy Local movement in the following ways:
1) Showcase local artists, entrepreneurs and other innovators in our entertainment and lifestyle news features.
2) Provide reasonable advertising rates and incentives for local advertisers
3) Continue to be the island's primary source for locally produced television programming; broadcasting a diverse lineup of entertaining, informative and engaging programs produced, shot and edited on Guam.
4) Continue to be the island's primary radio source for local music; providing a resource for local recording artists to have their music heard by the entire community.
5) Showcase local performers at station promotions and concerts produced by KUAM.
6) Continue to donate Public Service Announcement airtime for local non profit organizations
7) Provide online coupons and interactive advertising features on kuam.com and kuam mobile for local businesses.
