Guam - The Guam Waterworks Authority is moving forward with implementing some $87 million in bond funds to complete projects under the stipulated order. The latest order from the court provided timelines for the agency to come into compliance with water and wastewater regulations.

Consolidated Commission on Utilities chair Simon Sanchez says much of the money will go toward the Northern and Agana Wastewater Treatment Plants to get them into compliance with primary treatment requirements. The CCU meanwhile tonight will also be approving a $589,000 purchase of a closed-circuit TV van that is required in the stipulated order to identify hot spots in sewers and for cleaning and inspection.

The CCU believes all of the projects in the stipulated order will cost between $200 million and $300 million will be paid for through rate increases.
