DOC investigating detainee's death

Guam - The Department of Corrections continues to investigate the death of Post 5 detainee Bernard Jennings. Jennings was found hanging inside his cell last Tuesday morning. DepCor director Jose San Agustin was shocked at the incident, as he visited the navy man several times describing him as being very sharp and smart.

He says the department is working to ensure something like this doesn't happen again, adding, "We can try our best to prevent it and the best way is for me to go constantly visit them and come up with programs. Obviously this person was not really entitled to any type of program because he was still a detainee; but even with that, I still could come up with ways we could provide them a way to keep themselves busy."

San Agustin says the internal affairs investigation may be done by the end of the month.
