Guam - A member of Guam's Men's Paddling Team was sanctioned for testing positive for prohibited substances during the 2011 Pacific Games in New Caledonia. KUAM News has confirmed with the Guam National Olympic Committee that one athlete was suspended from participation and competition for a period of two years.

While there was some concern that the entire men's paddling team would be banned from playing in future sporting events, GNOC officials say the team wasn't penalized.

The positive test result was revealed after the Pacific Games during random drug testing conducted by the World Anti-Doping Agency.
