Guam - There's good news for Guam's Guardsmen and women as 62 soldiers with the Guam National Guard have waited months for their overdue bonuses to be paid. Guam National Guard Adjutant General Benny Paulino says the problem first started when alleged bonus fraud by troops was identified in California, thus resulting in the delay for Guardmembers locally to get bonuses promised.

General Paulino says so far 52 bonus applications have been approved, and 16 of them should be paid out this week. "It goes to show what we did here was appropriate and not the result of any fraud here last year, then remaining six - two were denied and the remaining four are pending so the prognosis looks good," he said.

He says the denial of the bonuses for two soldiers was an administrative error on the Guard's end. He says the bonuses were part of the soldier's enlistment contract.
