Guam - The Calvo Administration is reacting to Finance Committee chair Senator Ben Pangelinan's comments. Governor's director of communications Troy Torres takes issue with Pangelinan's comment, wondering whether the budget committee understands the difference between the cash that comes in to the government and the budget that it produces.
Said Torres, "You need to follow the law governor that's what he's saying and so the question we have is do you want us to follow the law or not because if we follow the law then what would be happening is Fiscal Year 2012 provisions for tax refunds will be going into a bank account to pay for next year's refunds, but that will completely ignore the Tax Year 2011 refunds exist and that they need to be paid this year, and that's why we need the bond."
Torres points out that for the past three years, the revenue projections that have been approved and appropriated by the Legislature have been wrong and have created a huge deficit. The governor's spokesperson adding that numerous attempts have been made for Governor Eddie Calvo and Pangelinan to meet but the requests have been unanswered and it appears that the lawmaker will opposes anything the governor says or supports.
