Firefighter arrested for assault

Guam - A Guam Fire Department firefighter was arrested on charges of assault on Monday. Clifford Rupley Cruz, 35, was arrested after he allegedly head-butted and punched another man in the face several times. The altercation occurred in Agana Heights.

According to court documents, Cruz was arguing with the victim's girlfriend, and when the victim intervened that's when the alleged assault took place. Cruz was booked and confined.

In the meantime, GFD spokesperson Lieutenant Ed Artero says the fire chief acknowledges what happened, adding its an open case and will wait for further information.
