17 island beaches unsafe this weekend
by Nick Delgado
Guam - 17 beaches are on this week's polluted beaches list as samples taken by the Guam Environmental Protection Agency found they were polluted above accepted bacteriological standards. Among those on the list, Tanguisson Beach in Dededo, Dungca's Beach and East Hagatna Bay, Asan Bay Beach, Togcha, Toguan Bay, Talofofo Bay and Tagachang Beach in Yona and Inarajan Bay.
Swimming, fishing or playing in unsafe water may result in minor illness such as sore throat or diarrhea or more serious illnesses. West Hagatna Bay is also closed due to the continued use of the old fractured outfall at the Hagatna Sewage Treatment Plant. This includes the Hagatna Boat Basin, the Hagatna Channel and West Hagatna Beach Park.
