Guam - The Department of Parks &Recreation is reviving plans to construct a central park in Hagatna between the Agana Pool and the Agana River. DPR director Pete Calvo says the facility would include a multipurpose field, four baseball fields, a track around the park and a river walk. He says the sports complex is still in the planning stages, and DPR is still working to locate funding for the project.
"What needs to happen is recognition that the flood plan is a requirement and that would require the rip-rapping of Agana River, and then to identify property elsewhere that can be used as a wetland and reversion of property to be developed," he said.
If funds are identified, Calvo anticipates construction for the Hagatna Central Park to begin in two years.
