Guam - Mangilao mayor Nito Blas is hoping to answer the call to help Price Elementary School. The school lacks adequate cover from the heat and rain when walking to class. Blas says there are many ways to resolve the school's need for an awning and he's committed to resolving the nine-year-old problem.
Mayor Blas said, "We're going to have to work together to solve the problem instead of fight about it, or dream about it, or talk about it and nothing happen, especially Price, I take care of price for the longest time, I don't want to go wrong with Price Elementary School."
Contractors Blas contacted quoted the project to cost as low as $39,000 while the Department of Education pegged the project at $150,000. The Mangilao mayor has even offered to construct the project himself for $6,000. Blas even suggested the students fundraise to see the project come to fruition.
