Guam - Arrest warrants issued for warrants of arrest have been issued for Betsy Ho and Peter Tsai who were no-shows during today's arraignment hearing. The two face numerous charges of illegal gambling and money laundering.
Defense Attorney Randy Cunliffe informed the court today that Ho is in China and cannot travel at this time due to a brain aneurysm, while Tsai is in Taiwan with heart problems and undergoing surgery. The judge issued the warrants but said if the two make arrangements to return, the warrant will be lifted and a hearing will be scheduled.
Jimmy Hsieh, Jennie Pau, William Perez pleaded not guilty to similar charges as they're accused of being involved in illegal gambling at the MGM Spa. They're set to go to trial in April of next year.
Pauline Perez meanwhile was given a new attorney and is scheduled to answer to the charges next week. As for civil cases filed against the defendants to seize their bank accounts, the U.S. Attorney's Office will move to dismiss those as they proceed with the criminal cases.
