SRO future in hands of board, senators

Guam - The decision on whether school resource officers should be armed with hand guns should be decided by the Guam Education Board and the Guam Legislature. Chief Justice F. Philip Carbullido noted that SROs carried firearms when the concept was first implemented in previous years, but because of the concerns raised over the last week, he will not authorize the use of firearms by court personnel at this time.
Carbullido says the decision ultimately rests with the board and lawmakers. A swearing-in ceremony will be held Friday morning for the five new SROs.
