Guam - A year and a half after receiving full accreditation and the Guam Memorial Hospital has been put on notice by the Joint Commission. According to interim Hospital Administrator Rey Vega GMHA's status has changed from "Full Accreditation" to "Accreditation with Follow-up Survey".

According to the Joint Commission's website this category of certification means that the Guam Memorial Hospital Authority is not in compliance with specific standards that require a follow-up survey within 30 days to 6 months. GMHA must successfully address the identified problem area(s) in an Evidence of Standards Compliance (ESC) submission.

Vega says the change in status is a direct result of the Joint Commission's unannounced visit in August. He did not disclose what the Joint Commission cited as problem areas.
