Guam - "Connecting Guam with the World - Selling Internationally" was the theme of Monday's Guam Small Business Development Center training session. According to guest trainer and director of the Pacific Islands Hawaii Export Assistance Center John Holman, local businesses may not consider tourism an export but it is.

He said, "Oftentimes we have visitors coming here to Guam from other countries as well. That's an opportunity to learn from them what plays well in their market. We heard from a local restaurateur that he's seeing more Korean visitors at his restaurant and they're telling him well the food might be a little too salty or they're adjusting the recipe or bringing kim chee out so that they feel comfortable."

Holman advises Guam businesses to research where their product or service will do best as well as go into the market, meet with distributors, and check out the competition.
