Guam - A public hearing is being scheduled for this evening regarding a proposed rezoning of two lots in Chalan Pago from a 'Resident-Single Dwelling' to an M1, or Light Industrial Zone. The proposed sights consist of two lots - one measuring 16,000-square meters with the second measuring at 60,000-square meters both next to Father Duenas Memorial School and a few churches.

Ordot Chalan Pago mayor Jessy Gogue tells KUAM anytime there's a light industrial zoning proposal in a village, there should be much concern from the nearby residents. "Because it attracts not just more traffic but heavier traffic and if there's any concern that I have its just the volume of additional traffic so close to a school zone," he said.

M1 zones include automobile repair shops, bottling and packaging plans, machine shops and sheet metal shops, warehouses and lumberyards. Gogue encourages residents to attend the public hearing and voice their concern and ask questions. The public hearing starts at 6:30 this evening at the Chalan Pago Community Center.
