Guam - The Guam National Wildlife Refuge has embarked on a multi-species barrier fence project that will enclose 125 acres of the refuge. The fence project isn't meant to keep people out, rather certain species out to give native species like the fanihi and the ko'ko a protective sanctuary free of pigs, snakes, and other animals that threaten their survival.

Refuge manager Joseph Schwagerl says although the fence project will be complete in April, it may be years before the area can be cleared of snakes. While the fence is being constructed, the Guam National Wildlife Refuge remains open daily from 7:30am to 4pm with the exception of federal holidays.
