GEPA: 22 beaches polluted this week

The Guam Environmental Protection Agency reports 22 beaches found to be polluted above the accepted bacteriological standards this week.

Guam – The Guam Environmental Protection Agency reports 22 beaches found to be polluted above the accepted bacteriological standards this week. These waters include Dungca's beach, East Hagatna Bay – Alupang Beach towers and Trinchera beach, Padre Palomo park beach, Adelup beach park, Asan bay beack, Piti Bay Santos Memorial park, United Seamen's Service, Togcha beach - near Namo river, Agat park beach, and near Southern Christian Academy, Bangi beach, Nimitz beach, Umatac Bay, Toguan Bay, Merizo Pier at Mamaon Channel, Inarajan Pool, Inarajan Bay, Talofofo Bay, First beach, Togcha bay, and Pago Bay. Residents are cautioned that swimming, fishing or playing in these waters may result in illnesses.


Guam EPA also notes West Hagatna Bay remains closed due to the fractured outfall at the Hagatna sewage treatment plant.
