Guam - There have been 18 confirmed cases of polio in China and Public Health urges residents to get vaccinated. Polio is highly contagious and is spread by person to person contact.  Symptoms of polio include: fever, fatigue, headache, flu-like symptoms, stiffness in the neck and back and pain in the limbs.  

Public Health has put residents on alert since visitors traveling from china may bring the disease here.  As well island healthcare providers are also urged to be on alert for possible polio cases and to report suspected cases to the Bureau of Communicable Disease Control.
