DPW ready to enforce road repair inline with law
by Mindy Aguon
Guam - Gone are the days that contractors and government entities excavate and tear-up the island's roads and leave them in disrepair. With the passage of Public Law 31-83, Public Works will be ensuring that roads are restored to their original condition or better.
The law provides for enforcement and also requires that deposit fees and/or a bond be paid to public works prior to any excavation on the island's roads. Contractors and government entities will also be required to submit a schedule of work with set timelines for the road restoration to be completed.
The money from the fees will be deposited into the Territorial Highway Fund.
