Guam - With the holidays around the corner, the Salvation Army is asking for canned food donations. Program coordinator for the Lighthouse Recovery Center Lou Hongyee says the organization needs to fill 500 bags of canned good items to give away at their lunch on Thanksgiving Day.

She told KUAM News, "Canned vegetables, canned meats, fruits, we take everything. We have package food also like noodles. For Thanksgiving, we're asking for 5-lb. bag of rice."

Hongyee hopes residents will continue their generosity despite Guam's hard economic times. Drop donations to the Salvation Army in Tiyan or call 477-7671 or 477-9872 for more information.
