Highway Safety Plan approved
The National Highway Safety Administration approved DPW's Office of Highway Safety's 2012 Highway Safety Plan.

Guam - The National Highway Safety Administration approved DPW's Office of Highway Safety's 2012 Highway Safety Plan. According to a news release, part of the plan includes federal programs that have been awarded to several law enforcement agencies to continue aggressive enforcement on our roadways.
The Guam Police Department was awarded $372,000 to cover overtime enforcement activities under the alcohol and other drugs projects, selective traffic enforcement projects and occupant protection projects, while the Guam International Airport's Police Division got $120,000. The Judiciary of Guam for $64,000 to fund the salary of Chuukese interpreters for the DWI Court, and the Attorney General's Office received $119,000 to fund salaries for dedicated DUI prosecutors.
Additional funds will also allow for the production of highway safety electronic messages to promote "Drive Sober. Or get pulled over."
