Guam - Management at the local airport say the Federal Aviation Administration will work with them and the Guam Police Department during the move out of the Tiyan facility. The FAA wanted the police department out of the space by October 1 or the airport would have lost federal dollars.

But acting GIAA executive Peter Martinez says the feds are being lenient, saying, "The FAA is always supportive with the airport and we told them that we are working very hard with the administration and also the administration is very supportive in coordinating the move with GPD and so the FAA has been supporting us and they are happy."

Martinez adds the agency got $2.2 million in federal funds for the demolition of the GPD facilities. He anticipates demolition to begin in January 2012.
