Guam - Just thirty minutes of physical activity per day can reduce the risk of Type II diabetes by more than 50 percent. October has been declared Guam Diabetes Month and Diabetes Association of Guam president Carl Butler not only urges the community to live healthier lifestyles, but to take advantage of the free diabetes sessions the association hosts every 2nd Tuesday of each month.
"A higher percentage of Chamorros, 11 percent, are at risk to have diabetes than Americans living in the rest of the nation, we want to educate everyone about warning signs of diabetes, there is still no cure but medical advances are always providing better treatments for the control the diseases," Butler said.
