Guam - The Veterans Affairs Office has planned cleanup events to prepare Veterans Cemetery for the upcoming All Souls Day and Veterans Day holidays. Veterans Affairs Administrator John Unpingco says several businesses and organizations are taking part in waterblasting, painting and removing clutter from the cemetery.

Two cleanups have been scheduled - October 26 and November 10. "We are facing a very busy period and liked to encourage the cemetery patrons that go there to please give us their full cooperation because it's in the end its for the good of all," Unpingco said.

Patrons are asked to remove flowers and mementos before the cleanups to get the area spruced up before the two holidays to honor loved ones that have passed on.

Meanwhile the Veterans Office obtained a $35,000 grant to replace equipment that was stolen back in July and continue maintenance at the cemetery.
