Senators ask for reduced DOD spending
A bi-partisan group of U.S.-s senators sent a letter this week to the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction, suggesting cutting Department of Defense spending on overseas military construction projects.
Guam - A bi-partisan group of U.S.- senators sent a letter this week to the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction, suggesting cutting Department of Defense spending on overseas military construction projects. The 12 senators citing projects in Europe, South Korea and Guam.
The group was critical of how DOD has failed to provide a final master plan for the military buildup, "we believe that in these difficult financial times, taxpayers deserve to have those assurances and funding should be put on hold or significantly reduced until those assurances are provided."
The Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction was created to issue formal recommendations on how to reduce the nation's deficit by at least $1.5 trillion over the next decade. Those recommendations are due to Congress in December.
