Today proclaimed Women in Construction Day
Today not only was proclaimed Women in Construction Day, but the National Association of Women in Construction now officially has a Guam chapter.
By KUAM NewsGuam - Today not only was proclaimed Women in Construction Day, but the National Association of Women in Construction now officially has a Guam chapter. Pat McDonald is the former national president of the organization and is on Guam for the launching of the new chapter.
She hoped to reach out to the construction industry to build support for women and the organization, saying, "And these women on Guam are reminiscent of the NAWIC founders in 1953, I think it says with cement dust on their shoes and electricity in their vain, they went forward and that's what Guam chapter is like, they're an amazing group of unlimited potential."
McDonald adds although women make up about only 10% in construction, women entrepreneurs are quickly growing in the industry.
