Guam - DODEA and public high school students continued discussions today on issues facing the youth and the entire island during the final day of the Guahan Youth Summit. Chairperson Imani Davis says the three-day event allowed interaction between students around the island to tackle sensitive issues including suicide, teen pregnancy, the Chamorro language and culture and shortage of textbooks in schools.

Her goal was to pass as many proposals and hope lawmakers take action on their concerns, as she told KUAM News, "We hope that they actually take it into consideration - they do something about it and I feel as though we'll get a lot of issues that we face as youth, we'll get them tackled and we'll become better people in our generation."

The Summit is sponsored by the national Close-Up organization based out of Washington, DC and allowed students to present proposals and learn about the legislative process.
