Teachers invited to testify at board meeting
by Krystal Paco
Guam - The clock is ticking as the Guam Education Board and the Guam Federation of Teachers have yet to return to the negotiating table to settle collective bargaining agreements. GFT president Matt Rector is encouraging teachers in the union to testify at the GEB's meeting tomorrow night.
He told KUAM News, "On Wednesday night the board's having their first meeting that teachers can actually attend because it'll be at night at Inarajan Elementary School. We're encouraging parents and teachers to come out and explain to the board how difficult it is to teach."
GEB member Barry Mead says that although public testimony is welcome, no negotiations can occur in a public forum. The current contract is set to expire on November 6. Tomorrow's meeting is scheduled to start at 6:30pm.
