GLUC concerned about inactive Tumon project

Guam - It's not hard to miss whenever you're in Tumon, an unfinished building that was supposed to be a shopping mall across the Fiesta Resort. The project has come under scrutiny by the Guam Land Use Commission, which is now contemplating revoking the permits issued to the developer.
GLUC chairperson Jay Lather said, "They ran into some financing problems and they have some procedural issues with the Land Use Commission where they failed to comply with the conditions of their approval."
During their meeting today Commissioners recommended moving the permits into a temporary suspension phase until a compromise is reached. They are hoping to hear back from the developer before their next meeting in one month. The project has been inactive for nearly one year.
The prime engineering and construction contractor for Ino Corporation's Tumon Bay Shopping Center is Kyung Maek D&C, the same contractor for Younex International's Emerald Ocean View Park luxury condo project in Tamuning.
