Guam - Lawmakers got an earful today from local cosmetologists complaining about the Guam Board of Barbering and Cosmetology failing to properly notify them about new continuing education requirements that went into effect this year. The new law mandates six credit hours of continuing education necessary for license renewal. Many who testified were not only upset they weren't informed but changes the board decided to make on its own to cut the hours from six to two.

Lawmakers recommended the board should seek guidance from the attorney general before deciding to implement changes and waivers of the law.  It's estimated there are more than 400 individuals employed in the cosmetology and barber industry in Guam.  The roundtable was held to gather feedback from the industry in hopes of amending the law.
