Native groups protest draws low turnout

Guam - A peaceful demonstration was held outside the Guam Legislature today against the noise pollution from U.S. Marines fighter jet training being held at Andersen Air Force Base this month. Despite a low turnout, Trini Torres of the Taotaomona Native Rights Group remains hopeful that Guam leaders will stand up for our rights.
"I'm not worried about turnout," she said, adding, "even one person can mean a lot…the fact is a lot of our people don't really know about what going on were not informed in the first place. Japan and the U.S. never consulted us in anything they plan to do in our island in regards to military exercise."
The Marines fighter jet training was moved from Japan to Guam because of concerns over noise pollution there. Another protest is scheduled for tomorrow across the front gate at Andersen Air Force Base from 3:30pm to 6pm.
