Guam - The Department of Public Works Office of Highway Safety and its partners the Guam Fire Department conducted a demolition of child passenger restraint systems utilizing the Jaws of Life today. DPW OHS coordinator Cil Javier says they were destroyed to get them off Guam's roads.

Javier said, "Because these are either car seats that we've collected that were either recalled or no longer advisable to be utilized by the children, and its because children have either graduated from infant car seat to forward or convertible or to booster seats so its only to protect to make sure we destroy these car seats so that no future use of it can be done."

This is the second time that OHS and GFD have coordinated this event. Javier adds that if any parent is concerned about their child's carseat they can bring it to her office have it inspected and learn how to properly install them.
