Guam - Today marked the Double Ten National Day and the centennial year celebration of the Republic of China. To celebrate, the United Chinese Association of Guam partnered with the Guam International Airport Authority to provide a landmark consisting of a 100 palm tree garden.
According to UCAG president Albert Wu, placing such a landmark near the airport is important for Guam's tourism market. "Guam Airport is an open door to the rest of the world," he said. "We always believed that this is where we should cherish and make sure we give the arriving tourists the best impression. The symbolism of these 100 trees can give them a good image when they arrive."
The 100 palm trees are symbolic of love, respect, and honor. Wu also celebrates the growth of the Chinese community on Guam, saying there are over 4,000 Chinese nationals on the island.
