Guam - Joanne Camacho said, "We wanted to bring Micronesian islands together to show our culture, song and dance and what have you and display our heritage to each other." The Guam Visitors Bureau general manager said that promoting cross-culture fun between thousands of people from throughout the region is the goal of the 24th Guam Micronesia Island Fair.

The key is setting the stage to throw one of the biggest events our region has to offer. Camacho says this year's theme is "Celebrating the Dance and Song of Micronesia," adding, "You can never buy our culture our dance and our history, and I think just that in itself is worth the investment." An investment that started in 1987 to unite people in the region and further promote tourism. Participating in the 24th Annual Guam Micronesia Island Fair are delegations from the CNMI, the Republic of Belau, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, Nauru, and Kiribati.

During last year's fair a record breaking 20,000 people attended, and according to GVB deputy general manager Nate Denight, this year's fair is going to be bigger and better. "We are going to have lots of barbeque, different kinds of food, snacks, then we have all our culture and craft not only from right here on Guam but all the other islands, plus this year Department of agriculture is going to have an agriculture and aqua culture display so you can look at fish and shrimp grown right here on Guam and also our very unique local produce there's so much going on," he said.

It's fun for the entire family you don't want to miss, with Camacho saying, "This year the theme is dance so we are going to express out culture through many dances so it'll be lively and very entertaining and I really want to invite the people of Guam to come down and plan it puzzle it into your calendar but plan on coming down on October 14, 15, and 16 to the Ypao beach for the Guam Micronesia island fair and the Koko Road Race."
