Guam - Guam Military Buildup Chairperson, Senator Judi Guthertz, says the military should have completed its studies by now on its favored location for Apra Harbor aircraft carrier berthing facility. The military's favored location would require the destruction of some 72 acres of coral in the harbor.

Senator Guthertz, however, proposed an alternate site at the San Luis location, which has since been backed by several federal government agencies including the USEPA. Recognizing the economic benefits the new carrier berthing facility would bring to Guam, Guthertz is requesting the military provide a timetable for its development and estimated costs.
