Guam - Governor Eddie Calvo declared October as Family Violence Prevention Month. Attorney General Leonardo Rapadas says family violence makes up about 70 percent of the case currently in the court system. He says family violence is usually a complicated matter since it deals with individuals in close relationships.

He says his office will be educating the community about family violence throughout the month. He told KUAM News, "We are going to do outreach to make sure people understand there are resources available, one thing we want to make sure is that if you are victim of family violence you need to take action. You can't just sit there and not do anything2526 many case unfortunately do end in bad."

The governor also proclaimed October as Fire Prevention Month. Throughout the month, local and federal fire fighters will be conducting fire drills in the schools, as well as holding the annual muster competition where personnel showcase their skills and endurance.
