Guam - Two longtime members of the Chamorro Land Trust Commission's board of directors appeared before the Guam Legislature today for their confirmation hearing. Governor Eddie Calvo reappointed David Matanane and Oscar Calvo to serve. One of the questions of the nominees was their opinion on the governor's recent directive moving the CLTC and Guam Ancestral Lands Commission under the Department of Land Management.
Calvo said, "I support the governor issue to put together the CLTC for resources for that because in the past the CLTC didn't have survey crews and things of that nature, but now that we are ultimately some of these issues with land can be identified and registered so forth."
Calvo added he thinks with Monte Mafnas heading up the new consolidated agency, it will also make the Chamorro Land Trust Commission stronger and will move its mission forward.
