Guam - The Guam Chamber of Commerce's Small Business Focus and Development Committee held its monthly seminar this morning, focusing on the challenges and the complex web of employments laws before supervisors and general managers in the business community.
Pacific Human Resource Services general manager Grace Donaldson was one of three SHRM professionals speaking about the different employment laws and HR issues including recruitment, American with Disabilities Act, age discrimination and sexual harassment. "There are always new laws but more importantly there are interpretations to the law, and what we have to do as HR is to ensure that we understand what the Supreme Courts or the various courts are handing out in terms of decision," she said.
She adds employments laws are ever changing and also challenging to implement. The seminar is part of a monthly small business management seminar series developed by the Chamber.
